SmartFlower Highlights September 2026

An Icon For Innovation at Spain Technology Park

The new SmartFlower planted at the Kadans Node I building is a beacon of sustainability in the heart of Málaga TechPark. Beyond generating clean energy, the SmartFlower will spark conversation amongst visitors. Kadans Science Partner chose SmartFlower for their building because its kinetic motion, sculptural design, and central location are “an instantly recognizable feature” and “an icon representing the technology park’s growing innovation community”.

“We wanted sustainability not to be something that simply happens behind the walls of a building, but something that can be seen, recognized, and shared. This SmartFlower perfectly embodies what we want Node I to be: a place where technology, innovation, and sustainability coexist and where new ideas can flourish” – Miguel Muñoz, Managing Director Spain at Kadans Science Partner.

Thank you to our partner Julio Matilla at SmartFlower Iberia for bringing this project to fruition.

Planting the Seeds of Solar with Landscape Architects

SmartFlower was thrilled to exhibit at the American Society of Landscape Architects Expo 2026 in Los Angeles, CA, last month. SmartFlower CEO Jim Gordon gave a speech on The Role of Solar Energy in Placemaking and Community Engagement. At the booth, our team spoke with many landscape architects about placemaking and designing solar-integrated spaces that bring communities together. We left with plenty of new ideas and connections. Thank you to everyone who stopped by the booth. If we didn’t get a chance to connect, we’d love to hear from you or view our Architect & Designer Resources to access model files and technical specs.

A Gift Rooted in Sustainability for Stadium Centennial in Germany

The City of Gotha celebrated Volkspark Stadium’s 100th anniversary with SmartFlower. The unit was donated to the city by Stadtwerke Gotha Energie, a local utility company.  According to its Managing Director Sven Anders, the SmartFlower reflects the utility’s commitment to shaping the stadium’s future through renewable energy generated on the grounds. Stadtwerke Gotha then added their own finishing touch with a custom wrap. The result is a stunning and impressive SmartFlower that now enhances the grounds of the city’s sports stadium — a fitting symbol of innovation and renewable energy for Gotha’s centennial celebration. Thank you to our dealers Egon and Benny Faiss at faboro for making this project possible!

Making Waves at Berlin’s Harbor Festival

SmartFlower celebrated Hafenfest, or Harbor Festival, where the Spree riverbank in Berlin transforms into a vibrant outdoor festival featuring live music and stage programs. Our dealer Bernd von Hofe of GeFEE KG installed the SmartFlower, mounting it on the deck of the historic, fully renovated “Hans Wilhelm” river barge, which is semi-permanently anchored alongside the Märkische Ufer in the heart of Berlin. The vessel’s renovation enables off-grid operation of the unit, which marks a new era of clean energy in Berlin.
