SmartFlower Sprouts at Vibrant Urban Farm in Boston

Sep 19, 2025

SmartFlower had an amazing time at We Grow Microgreens’s farm for Massachusetts’s Urban Agriculture Week. We Grow Microgreens is a vibrant urban farm based in Boston’s Hyde Park that showcases sustainable farming. Their Hyde Park Greenhouse was designed to have sustainable, chemical-free growing practices, and most notably, their SmartFlower solar system generates clean energy for the farm. During the event, We Grow Microgreens hosted interactive tours and educational demos that highlighted the farm’s sustainability, cutting-edge technology, and food production in the city.

Spotlight on Solar Innovation

We Grow Microgreens’s SmartFlower was proudly featured at the event. Our CEO Jim Gordon spoke about its innovative technology alongside one of We Grow Microgreens’s co-founders Lisa Evans, who shared how it supports their farm. The SmartFlower generates power for some of the farm’s essential equipment, such as grow lights and refrigeration units.

The SmartFlower’s engineering marvel is its dual-axis tracking system that allows the panels to automatically open at dawn, follow the sun all day, and close at dusk. It also keeps the panels at a 90° angle to the sun, optimizing energy conversion and generating up to 40% more energy than traditional fixed solar panels.

Growing a Greener Future Together

We are thankful to We Grow Microgreens for hosting us, and giving us the opportunity to showcase and educate the community on how with the SmartFlower, technology and nature can work in harmony.
