A New Chapter in Clean Energy Blossoms at Henderson Innovation Park

SmartFlower traveled to Henderson, Texas for a special milestone: the unveiling of Henderson Innovation Park‘s SmartFlower garden, featuring five units beautifully installed by True Texas Solar and Roofing. The event was a proud celebration of innovation working hand in hand with nature, marking a new chapter in Henderson’s commitment to sustainability. The grounds feature a 300-acre picturesque business park with expansive green spaces, sidewalks and streets, as well as a recreational trail around a scenic lake where the SmartFlowers are arranged.

Henderson Innovation Park Leads the Way in Sustainable Economic Development

Hosted by Henderson Texas Economic Development Corporation (Henderson Texas EDC), the event brought together community leaders, city council members, local businesses and community members. Henderson Texas EDC’s Executive Director Bret Gardella led the event, and described the park’s ambition and how SmartFlower helps set them apart. “What you see here is an inspirational form that people get excited about. To set Henderson apart [in order] to showcase this beautiful facility, we have to be willing to do things no one else is doing.” He continued saying, “Our goal for [Henderson Texas EDC] is to be better today than we were yesterday. This garden, this renewable resource, does just that for us and makes us competitive as we recruit the jobs of tomorrow.”

SmartFlower’s Role in Advancing Economic Growth

Henderson Innovation Park is designed to advance economic development for the Henderson community through new businesses, jobs, and capital investment. Henderson Texas EDC’s decision to partner with SmartFlower aligns with their vision of sustainable development, and positions the project as the only Innovation, Business or Industrial park in East Texas with onsite renewable energy.

SmarFlower President Mark Conroy joined Henderson Mayor Pace to highlight how the park’s SmartFlower garden showcases the city’s dedication to renewable energy and also attracts businesses, schools, and institutions who embrace sustainability. “[Henderson Texas EDC] is cultivating a really vibrant ecosystem for the area where businesses, residences, and the communities can all interact together and grow,” Mark stated. He concluded by reemphasizing SmartFlower’s impact saying, “this puts Henderson on the map for economic development and attraction of new businesses and talent in the area.”

Inspiring a Sustainable Future for Henderson and Beyond

After the speeches, guests enjoyed local food and refreshments, had the chance to learn more about the SmartFlower technology, and experienced firsthand how solar innovation can be both functional and beautiful. There were several students among the guests who were awe-inspired by the SmartFlowers, and even wanted their school to continue visiting the garden as an opportunity to further learn about its solar technology. Projects like Henderson Innovation Park advance economic growth while inspiring the community to embrace clean energy and solar innovation. SmartFlowers are appreciated at many schools and campuses across the world, and they not only generate clean energy for the school, but also serve as a learning tool for the students and the community.

A highlight of the day came when Mayor Pace and Mark Conroy made a memorable connection, with the Mayor even passing along his signature red jacket to Mark, symbolizing the shared spirit of collaboration and community that defined the event.

The SmartFlower garden at Henderson Innovation Park is a bold statement of what’s possible when innovation, nature, and the community come together to stand for sustainability. It’s a beacon for the region’s clean energy future, and we’re proud to see it bloom in Henderson.
